Doctor Says

Well first of all doctor didn't say anything because there wasn't a bloody doctor but only a f'ing nurse practionner who couldn't treat me and my deep painful overflowing black mucus cough at the walk in clinic.

So Nurse practionner gives me the number to Out of Hours emergency number, I ring up leave my contact details, an hour later a Dr rings me, tells me that my cough is probably just an irritation. I've told him I've had it a few times before, and that it can get quite bad, that I have an exam tomorrow, and its quite important that I get it seen and under control. Oh no the doctor said you'll be fine, just drink tea with lemon and honey. 5 teas later its 3 am, I can't sleep, still coughing, constantly for hours on end, having a hard time breathing. So I can't sleep at all so stay awake and do some work for my exam which is well needed, as I spent three hours trying to get seen to by a doctor.

So I went to the exam today at 10am, coughed all the way through, went to the loo about 5 times. The people sitting next to me probably wanted to kill me, and I'm probably on their hate list. Went to see head of subject (it just happened t0 be tort) she said see examination officer, I saw examination officer, she said see GP. I saw GP, GP said "i'm surprised you went into your exam" as she thought I was too ill to go in.

So thank you very much Walk in useless f'ing clinic, and not so very helpful over the phone doctor, I am now on antibiotics and inhaler for my chest infection. Dick.

O Dear, LLLS, you sound as if you are in a very bad way. Perhaps its best that you go back to that doctor and ask him for doccumentary evidence of your treatment and what he told you regarding your illness so that you can put it into the exam board with extenuating circumstances, just to be on the safe side.
I hope you feel very much better soon; its a swine bieng ill at this time of the year.

Like Minxy said, I would definitely get some doctor notes for extenuating circumstances.

Please get well soon! :)

Ohmigod! Have you really had to give up smoking? Is it only temporary? That is awful news... I believe we are the only "smoking bloggers" - who will stand outside the pub with me at drinks in August if you do something as silly as give up permanently?

P.s Good luck with the exam result - cool that you sat it (you must be hardcore) and that you got EC. :-)

Hi Lass

I know its awful! However apparently I have a very sensitive something something that makes me very suspectible to illnesses such as throat infections and really nasty coughs. And seeing as I get one of these on an average of once every 1-2 months, I think giving up might be the best idea! Don't worry I'm sure I'll get well enough for a quick smoke in August ;)

Giving up smoking is really difficult. I smoked on and off for about 6/7 years until quitting about 4 years ago.

Unfortunately (speaking from personal experience) you never really become a non-smoker, just a smoker that isn't smoke at the moment. Is does get easier as time goes by and a warning from the doctor must be a fairly strong impetus for quitting.

Gents should also remeber that smoking can eventually restrict the blood flow which leads to 'disappointments' in certain areas at crucial moments...

The thought of that certaintly made me quit fairly sharpish...
