It's a sign, Lost! You're meant to be a barrister! :)
I think its a sign that I need to leave this god forsaken university!!
You win some, you lose some, eh.
Take it on the chin and move on.
Their loss and all that! :-)
It is time to move on and fulfil your real, true ambitions, which you what they are.
All this teaching, PhD and all that, you knew it was something just for the interim.
My Dear Lost,
I am very sorry to hear that funding did not come your way for a PH.d, but I do have to say that its not a given and is indeed as rare as chicken's teeth, these days. Having said this, do not give up hope; if you really want to take on a PH.d ( and are truly ready for the singularly lonely task that it is, over a number of years) explore other universities which do offer funding ( Bristol is one excellent example of an RG uni with a good chance of obtaining wonga plus teaching experience) as well as the research councils; its a bit of hard work, but it has its rewards!!
