The Honourable (and probably slightly deluded) Society of Middle Temple, have given me a scholarship! Hazaar!!!!
I wasn't expecting one, in fact I repeatedly told my flat mate that I wasn't going to get one, and that my Lady GaGa poker face explanation of criminal practice to the learned panel had probably meant that I had "REJECT" stamped on me.
I thought my paper application was shite and I thought the interview was even worse, so I consider myself very fortunate to come out with something :)
I hope all the other Middle Templers(especially readers from Middle Temple Student Society on Facebook) got something too :)

Big congrats to you! Well done on the Harmsworth scholarship! I got a Queen Mother one! Now just need to update the CVs and find a pupillage!
Aw I am still waiting for the Postman!
Was it post or email? And if post which address was it? Home or Uni? Thick/Thin envelope?
Many many congratulations to you.
Anon 2 - By Post, thin envelope... to the address I put in the application.
Congrats Anon 1 - Queen Mother scholarship is quite a substantial bit of money from what I hear! :)
It was in the post to my home address (which is my only address). Thin, small, envelope, only 1 page plus cheque for travel expenses. Good luck!
Congrats! Very impressive!
What FAB news!! Go straight to the top of the class and jump off!!!
I got mine today too!!!I was so shocked im SURE i did terrible in that interview!!! Congrats to everyone with good news... All the best for the BVC and the Lion of a hunt for pupillage x x
Lost, well done. Those incriminating photos of the Treasurer did the trick then.
Can Anon people post with nicknames? Just a thought...
Yes Barboy they did, as did the secret handshake and threats that I would sell incriminating photos to the news of the world..
Woooo!!!! Congrats, Lost! I knew you'd get it!! :)
Out of interest, how much is the average scholarship at Middle?
And Congrats, of course :)
I have no idea Anon!!
Queen Mother scholarships I think are the top end of the deal and candidates can get up to £15K? (someone correct me if I am wrong)
My personal scholarship was significantly less than that, but still enough to knock off 1/3 of BVC fees.
Sorry Lost for not leaving a name! Scholarship news still sinking in! Although have to get over it as I have my final exam tom! Equity though ergh lol x
Equity was my easiest exam 11 questions, only had to answer 3 and it was 3 hours!
Tort on the other hand.. didn't help that I was being violently sick during it and didn't know anything...
Best of luck
Any ideas when the accommodation results might turn up?
And anyone thinking of rsvping for that dinner?
Anon - QM can definitely go up to 10k :)
Kitt x
QM can also go up to 12k!
Still waiting for mine to trun up, the post is absolutely shocking in this area!!! :(
Bob I can't imagine that you would get any less than the big Old Queen Mother Scholarship! I've seen your CV remember!
That or a big fat zilch because the interview was shockingly bad...
It still hasn't turned up at this address so will have to give the parents a call and see if it has turned up there. That or the incompetent idiots at the Royal Mail have lost it...
Well my paper application was shit and so was my interview and I got a scholarship so I can only imagine that they will be giving you a mountain of Middle Temple gold!
A 'middling' amount of 4K to 6K is a huge help to someone who is staring the full force of £14,000 of debt in the face.
OK £100 is not huge but it is still better than a poke in the eye. It is also important to remember that there is a certain amount of prestige attached to a scholarship which looks good on your CV.
An award is still an award and not every body gets them..
Whilst some people may get a QM scholarship, that doesnt guarantee that they will be ultra successful..
As with everything its about how much you put in, how many probono and mooting stuff you have on your CV, rather than just lists of scholarships :)
They add a gloss but shouldn't be a substantive point ...
I think that an Inn's scholarship is another tick in the box, along with mooting, debating, marshalling and miin-pupillages...
I haven't done any debating, I think thats something I'll do at Middle Temple, I've mooted every year since my first year, and this year I've been in two different competitions.
But I agree it is another tick in the box.
Are any new Middle Temple Scholars attending the dinner?
I will be as will BOB hopefully.
Though I won't reveal myself as Lost the blogger ;)
